Chittorgarh Fort is located in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan. It was once the capital of Mewar. Although Chittorgarh Fort is located at a distance of 2 to 3 kilometers from the city. Which is completely built on a 180 meter high mountain.
However, this fort was first built by King Chitrangad Maurya of the Maurya Dynasty. Even in different periods including Solanki, Sisodia dynasty etc. The middle and last Rajputs of this fort are known as Suryavanshi Rajputs.

Even as you enter the main gate of this fort from north to south. So you have to pass through 7 big gates. In which first you get Patan Pol, Bhairav Pol, Hanuman Pol, Ganesh Pol, Jorla Pol, Laxman Pol and the last gate is named Ram Pol.
Only when you enter through these 7 gates, you can reach the main part of the fort. To see all the main heritage sites of the fort, you will have to buy a ticket.

3.1 ictory Column
Description of Victory Column Mahal Palace located in Chittaurgarh
Vijay Stambh is considered a symbol of victory and a messenger of peace. Vijay Stambh was built by Rana Kumbha. The reason behind building this pillar was when Rana Kumbha attacked Malwa of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Although the emperors of both these states were Mughal rulers.
Rana Kumbha attacked them and won. During which the order to build the Vijay Stambh was issued. Vijay Stambh was built between 1448 and 1458. It took 10 years to build it. At that time Rs 90 lakh were spent. The total length of Vijay Stambh from ground level to top is 122 feet. Below which 157 stairs were built.
By the way, Vijay Stambh is also called the badge of Rajasthan Police. But this pillar has been given the symbol of Lord Shankar’s Damru.
3.2 Meera Bai Mahal

Mira Bai’s palace is popular as the theme of Mira Bai. He was born in 1498 in Merta city of Nagaur district of Rajasthan. His father’s name was Raja Ratan Singh. Mewar used to be his in-laws’ house. At one time she was also the queen of Chittorgarh.
However, it was in this palace that Meera Bai sang the hymns of Shri Krishna for the first time. Meera Bai was married to Bhoj Raj, elder son of Rana Sanga. Even in this palace, Meera Bai considered Lord Shri Krishna as her everything.
At one time this palace used to have 2 to 3 floors. However, during that time the roof of this building was destroyed due to the invasion of Mughals.
3.3 Kumbha Mahal

Kumbha Mahal is the palace in which Maharana Pratap History Maharanas father Udai Singh was born. And mother Panna Dhay had sacrificed her son Chandan Singh to protect Uday Singh. Actually, from this palace Panna Dhay had reached kumbhalgarh fort with Uday Singh.
A tunnel was also constructed near this palace. Whose total length extends up to 1 kilometer. In which Queen Padmavati and her maids used to go to take bath.
3.4 Rani Padmavati Palace, Summer Palace (Jal Mahal)

Jal Mahal was constructed underwater. When summer season came, Queen Padmavati used to stay in Jal Mahal for 4 months. However, Queen Padmavati was seated on one side of this palace. And from the front Allau Deen Khilchi was shown to be the reflection of Queen Padmavati.

4.1 Meera Bai Temple
Description of Meera Bai Temple located in Chittaurgarh
Meera Bai’s temple is famous about Meera Bai. This temple was built by Meera Bai’s husband Bhoj Singh. However, it is the same temple. Where Meera Bai used to sing the hymns of Lord Shri Krishna. Even Meera Bai spent most of her time engrossed in the devotion of Shri Krishna. Also, Meera Bai’s attachment to Lord Shri Krishna was so much. Due to which he left his palaces and started living his life in the temple premises itself.
And most of Meera Bai’s time was spent in this temple. Due to which many people from the royal family tried to convince Meera Bai. However, Meera was not ready to listen. Due to which Meera Bai was poisoned in this temple. But that poison became nectar. However, even after this an attempt was made to kill Meera Bai again. In which snakes were sent in a basket of flowers.
However, those snakes turned into flowers. After which Meera Bai felt that she was facing a lot of difficulties in living here. Then Meera Bai traveled to Char Dham and finally merged into the idol of Shri Krishna.

Mahakali temple was built by the Rajput kings who lived in the fort. However, the idol kept in the temple was brought from Ujjain. Whenever a king went to war, he took this idol with him. So that mother’s blessings always remain on him.

Jauhar place built in Chittorgarh is known for Jauhar. Actually, Jauhar has been performed 3 to 4 times by queens in Chittor Fort. The last Jauhar was performed by Queen Padmini with about 16000 female slaves. When Allau Din Khilchi attacked Chittorgarh, thousands of queens sacrificed themselves by jumping into the fire.
Which has been filled with soil today. Jauhar festival is celebrated once a year at the Jauhar site. In which all the queens are remembered. And havan is also performed for the peace of his soul. In which all the Rajputs of India along with the Rajputs living in Mewar participate on this day.

However, Chittorgarh Fort has been ruled by different kings. And there were many wars during their respective reigns. The Mughals attacked Chittorgarh Fort about 27 times. In which Rajputs won 24 times. And had to face defeat from the Mughals 3 times.
The most important battle of this fort is considered to be between Raja Ratan Singh and Allau Din Khilchi. In which Allau Din Khilchi first camped on the hill located at a distance of 1 kilometer on the eastern side of this fort. Allau Din Khilchi stayed in this hilly area for 6 months. Finally after 6 months the Chittorgarh fort was attacked. In which thousands of queens sacrificed their lives by performing Jauhar. This Jauhar is considered the biggest defeat of the Mughals.
However, there came a time when Maharana Pratap’s son Amar Singh conquered Chittor and hoisted the saffron flag.
