diver ka yudh : From where Maharana Pratap succeeded in conquering the whole of Mewar. Despite having a small army, the people of Mewar drove the Mughals back to Ajmer.
Introduction to Diver
The complete introduction related to the diver ka yudh is shown below.
Diver is a small village located in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan. Even today, Diver tells the story of the bravery of the Rajputs and is also considered a symbol of the integrity of the country. It is linked to the glorious history of the country. It is discussed all over the country in honor of Maharana Pratap. To its west lies the Aravalli mountain range. In the east we will see villages in small areas. Rajsamand and Udaipur are shown in the south, Ajmer road in the north.
However, Diver is mainly counted among the Aravalli hills. It has been shown by many names in its changing times. Among which Diver, Dewar is currently known as Diver. However, Chhapali is also located near it. Where a huge valley exists between the two villages. Which is the reason for the diver ka yudh.
Diver has been a witness to the fierce war between Maharana Pratap and the Mughals. However, from this area Maharana Pratap had taken the whole of Mewar under his control.
diver ka yudh
After the battle of Haldighati in 1576 AD, the diver ka yudh was fought in 1582 AD. This is also called the second part of Haldighati.
At that time, half of Mewar was under Akbar in 1568 AD. Which includes Chittorgarh Fort, Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh Fort, Gogunda, Chavand etc. Then winning the diver ka yudh, hoisting the saffron flag, winning all the lost forts. And saving Mewar from the Mughal Sultanate. This was a very challenging subject for Maharana Pratap. Due to which even Maharana Pratap had to leave his palaces. And made his residence in the same Aravalli valleys of Diver. Although he had special knowledge of hills and valleys since childhood. Where Maharana and his army were also involved.
Maharana was facing a lot of difficulties in these Aravalli mountain ranges. Where he needed a lot of money and weapons. At that time Maharana met Bhama Shah, a merchant of his Mewar city. At that time, Bhamashah accepted his entire wealth at the feet of Maharana Pratap for the purpose of Mewar. Now Maharana Pratap also got a large amount of wealth.
However, before the diver ka yudh, Maharana Pratap camped at Bhanwar Kund, a small place near Divar, which is known as Saat Palia. Which is located inside the forest at a distance of about 7 kilometers from Diver. However, it was here that Maharana Pratap became absorbed in the worship of Lord Shiva. The sage Muni Rupnath Ji Maharaj of the same place asked Maharana what he wanted. Pratap replied that freedom of entire Mewar. Then Rupnath Ji introduced Maharana to Bagha Rawat, who lived in the forest area. Where weapons etc. were received from Bagha Rawat.
Now Maharana had money and weapons in large quantities. With the help of which he could enter the battlefield. And Bagha Rawat Ji replied that we have a large number of Rawats deployed with us. Whenever you will order, we all together with a single attack and war strategy will pile up the dead bodies of the Mughal army.
War strategy
Before the diver ka yudh, Maharana Pratap fought many small battles. Which are called guerrilla and guerrilla warfare strategy. Because he was born in the midst of these mountains. Therefore, he had special knowledge of the valleys above the mountains.
Similarly, Maharana Pratap’s Mewari army also got divided into two parts. In which Maharana had to lead the Mughal army located in the Divar region. Because through this route, food items were being supplied to the Mughal soldiers. Rana Pratap wanted to avoid the ill effects of this. The responsibility of the other part was of his son Kunwar Amar Singh.
During this time, it was the festival of Dussehra. In which swords are worshipped. And the naked sword is taken out only till it is soaked in blood. During this time, Maharana Pratap also worshipped by putting tilak on his naked sword on this occasion. After which the diver ka yudh was about to start.
Strategy of Mughals in the diver ka yudh
The Mughals did not attack Maharana but built around 36 posts near the Aravali mountain range. The four main posts were Dewal, Desuri Naal, Debari and Diver. However, Diver was the most important post of the Mughals. Where soldiers were supplied from Ajmer route. The Mughal army was present in large numbers at this post. Akbar’s uncle Sultan Khan was also involved in this war of Diver.
Which covered all the four regions of the Aravali mountain range. Maharana Pratap’s halting place was around Bhanwar Kund in its central part. However, Sultan Khan felt that perhaps Maharana Pratap will kneel down now. However, this did not happen. Then the diver ka yudh started.
Attack
As soon as Maharana Pratap got ready by resting his sword and announced to attack the enemies, the Mewari army attacked the Mughal army in such a way that the Mughals were in a state of panic. Lakhs of Mughals were cut down like carrots and radishes. In this war, Maharana Pratap faced Bahalol Khan. Rana Pratap cut down the huge Bahalol Khan along with his horse with one blow.
On the other hand, Amar Singh attacked Akbar’s uncle Sultan Khan with a spear in such a way that Sultan Khan’s chest and horse along with the spear got stuck in the ground. Due to which Sultan Khan was killed. During this time, seeing Amar Singh’s bravery, Asaf Khan had to leave the battlefield. In this war, we still get to see the story of Amar Singh’s bravery and war strategy.
Victory
Meanwhile, on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashmi in 1582 AD, after defeating lakhs of Mughals, around 36000 Mughal soldiers surrendered before Maharana Pratap. They were chased away till Ajmer. And this is how the diver ka yudh ended. In which Pratap re-established his hold on the entire Mewar and was successful In winning all his lost forts. This is how Akbar had to lose Mewar. After which Divar got many names. Marathon of Mewar, Meva ka Mathara, Mewar ka Marathon etc.
The battle of Divar, which was very difficult to win. However, with the help of many people like Bagha Rawat, Seth Bhamashah of Mewar Nagar, winning the battle of Divar became even easier.
“When the animal ran away with the bread made of green grass,
Chhota Amar Singh started crying, Maharana Pratap’s lost sorrow was awakened”
These lines have been given so much importance that every Mewari person knows about it.
